Love Letter to the Bay
Carla Araujo
Home is a grand-scale botanical garden
That contains everything I could ever need
Home is defined by comfort
Where I never feel the urge to leave
That contains everything I could ever need
Home is defined by comfort
Where I never feel the urge to leave
Home is a place constantly flowing with novelty
Dullness is never a worry
Day by day, I am met with diversity
In ways any ordinary home never meets
To the soils, recreational and agricultural,
Which I step foot on
Abundant of the necessities and leisures
Fulfilling every wish I could ever dream of
To the Pacific Ocean,
Whom I can meet at the crust of this vast land
Allowing me to test my vision by staring beyond the ocean
When I feel lost while imagining I am in the waves afar
I can easily return grounded with my feet safely sinking into the Half Moon Bay sand
To the Golden Gate Bridge,
Whenever I am given the gift to admire
The simple yet intricate architecture
Never once have I glared at the breathtaking sight
And believed I was still in the same world I was in before
The alluring awe is stronger and incomparable to anything I have ever observed
Whether I am bound to earth with my feet submerged in sand
Or elevated when empathizing with buildings
Who reach their concrete hands into the clouds
The duality contains variety between comfort and novelty
Beyond any definition of home can provide
To me,
Bay is home
